1. How do I apply for a grant?

We take applications in two ways, online through our application page and through the mail at our contact mailing address.

2. What is the deadline for submitting grant applications?

The deadlines for the Summer review period is June 1. The deadline for the Winter review period is December 1. Please review our guidelines page.

3. Is there a miminum or maximum grant award amount?

There is no amount too small or too great to request. Make Change! Trust reserves the right to award a grant in any denomination. Please review our grant page.

4. How will I know if my organization is awarded a grant?

Every organization that submits an application by following our guidelines will receive notice in July or August whether they have been approved or not for a grant.

5. How often are grants awarded?

Grants are awarded twice per year. Once in January and once in July. See our guidelines page.

6. How often can my organization apply and receive a grant?

Organizations can apply for a grant every review period. There is no limit to the number of grants an organization may receive. See our funding page.

7. Why do you need a follow-up report?

We use the information provided in the follow-up report to determine how the funds we provide are impacting your community  and to help determine whether organizations should receive an additional grant, should they apply. We encourage organizations that have already received a grant to reapply. See our follow-up report page.

8. Why must I apply to be a Grassroots.org member to apply for a grant?

Every organization can benefit from the free tools, services and volunteers that Grassroots.org provides. The resources available through Grassroots.org provide things that every nonprofit needs. Organizations that are serious about furthering their cause will make every effort to receive resources that will benefit them.

9.What name will the grant checks be issued under?

Checks are issued under the name of The Community Foundation for the National Capital Region. Make Change! Trust is a Donor Advised Fund and all grant funds are distributed through this organization.

10.Why is my organization not listed with past grantees?

If your organization has received a grant but it not listed in past grantees we sincerely apologize. We would love to put your organization on our site. Please use our contact form and let us know. Please also include your website URL in the message.
